Tuesday 19th January
Departing from Cambridge the journey begins with a relaxing drive to Taumarunui. Sit back and enjoy the changing landscapes as we make our way into the heart of the North Island where we settle in for a comfortable overnight stay.

Thursday 21st January
Continuing to New Plymouth, where we spend the night at "The Devon" hotel. On the way we will divert to Hawera to visit the widely acclaimed museum - Tawhiti. The afternoon is yours to relax and explore this glorious beachside town at your leisure. Stroll or bike ride along the coastal walkway, or simply unwinding with a swim in the pool.
I have booked the evening meal at "The Devon" which is part of your package.
As evening falls, at 8:30pm we will head to Pukekura Park to experience the magic of the illuminated park, a stunning display of light and creativity that provides a memorable and enchanting end to the day.

Wednesday 20th January
Today promises to be a true highlight of the trip. You will embark on a full-day guided rail cart adventure, travelling 82 kilometres between Taumarunui and Whangamomona. This truly unforgettable experience takes you through spectacular countryside, over bridges, and through 21 handcut tunnels - including an impressive 1.5 kilometre tunnel that adds a real sense of adventure to the day.
The journey concludes in the charming yet quirky settlement of Whangamomona, where you will enjoy a delicious meal in the local pub. Afterward, unwind in your accommodation - I have booked the lodge with ensuite facilities.

Friday 22nd January
Today we return home. Travelling via a different route, enjoying the picturesque coastal drive, a fresh perspective and beautiful ocean views - bringing a perfect close to a truly enjoyable and well-rounded getaway.
This thoughtfully planned escape combines adventure, relaxation, and unique experiences, making it a memorable few days away filled with scenic beauty and special moments.
