East Coast Adventure
Get ready for an unforgettable journey along New Zealand's spectacular East Coast- where history, culture, coastlines and adventure come together.

Thursday 10th December

Departing Cambridge around 9:00am for the Awakeri Rail Adventures, where the journey begins with a taste of local history and excitement. After a full day of exploring unwind with an overnight stay, setting you up perfectly for the days ahead.

Saturday 12th December

A day of coastlines continuing onto Hicks Bay, with plenty of opportunities to stop, explore and enjoy the hidden gems of the East Coast.

Monday 14th & Tuesday 15th December

We spend two days discovering highlights of Gisborne. Activities include:

- Rere Rockslide & Rere Falls

- East Woodhill Arboretum

- Tairawhiti Museum

Experience the natural playground of the Rere rockslide and falls, visiting the Arboretum home to the largest collection of Northern Hemisphere trees in the Southern Hemisphere and a trip to the museum to explore the rich history, culture and stories of the region celebrating both Maori and European heritage.

Thursday 17th December

The Te Urewera region is one of New Zealand's most beautiful and least-visited areas, offering truly unspoiled landscapes and a sense of timeless wilderness.

Investment: $2,500 twin share, extra $(tbc) single supplement

Includes 8 nights shared accommodation, Awakeri Rail Adventures, Jet boat ride up the Motu, Air Ruatoria flight, entry into Aboretum and Museum, transport and driver.

Friday 11th December

The following morning, we travel through Opotiki and continue east toward Te Kaha, soaking in the ever changing coastal scenery. along the way we meet up with Mark for an unforgettable boat ride up the Motu River- a high energy experience combining adrenalin, stunning landscapes and fascinating local stories. Tonight we can relax in a spa or enjoy an evening walk on the beach. Don't forget your bathers!

Sunday 13th December

Today, weather permitting, we take a scenic flight with Air Ruatoria, around Mount Hikurangi, one of the world's first place to see sunrise. Back on the ground, the adventure continues with a scenic drive into Gisborne.

Accommodation:  Captain Cook Motor Lodge (3 nights)

Wednesday 16th December

Beginning our journey home with a scenic drive to Lake Waikaremoana, a peaceful lake and surrounds with several short walks.

Accommodation: Lake Waikaremoana Holiday Park (2 nights)

Friday 18th December

We enjoy the drive home via Rotorua, with a few interesting stops along the way - bringing our East Coast adventure to a relaxed and memorable close.
