IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We can breathe a sigh of relief that the Red Light settings is not a lockdown. Businesses are still open and while gathering numbers are reduced it will not be affecting our tours.

Anyone who is interested in joining us on our trips will have to be double vaccinated, as per Government Legislation. 

 Everyone needs to carry their - My Vaccine Pass.  Everyone needs to scan QR code on board. 

If you feel unwell before your planned outing with Bikehikestay Tours please let me know as you will need to cancel.

It's all about keeping ourselves safe by scanning QR codes for contact tracing, isolating & testing if you feel unwell, wearing our masks when out and about, along with keeping good hygiene at all times.

I will be continuing scheduled tours as posted on my website unless there are any unforeseen changes in the future.

Tiritiri Matangi Island Tour

When: Wednesday 2nd February 2022 to 4th February 2022

Leaving Cambridge on Wednesday 2nd February at 9am.

About: I’ll be picking you all up from your home. You are all very welcome to pack a lunch to enjoy along the way otherwise we will be stopping at rest rooms and places to purchase food along the way. As we venture north we will stop at the Navy museum which is at the base of North Head and is also a most interesting area full of history.

We have two nights accommodation in Orewa at Orewa Cliff Top.  In the afternoon you are welcome to walk the beach. For our evening meals we can either cook at the accommodation or choose one of the many restaurants available to us.

Thursday 3rd February:  We will head to Gulf Harbour where we will take the ferry to Tiritiri Matangi Island for the day. This is a bird sanctuary and is predator free. This is a full day.  If you have never been it’s one place not to miss. 

The tickets are purchased ahead of time but with us staying two nights we will have two options to visit while we are up there. 

Friday 4th February we will head  home to Cambridge with a few stops along the way.

Northland To Cape Reinga

When: Thursday 17th February 2022 Leaving Cambridge on Thursday at 9am. I'll be picking you all up from your home. You are  very welcome to pack a lunch to enjoy along the way otherwise we will be stopping at rest rooms and places to purchase food.


About: We will travel via Mangawhai Heads then up to Waipu which is off the normal State Highway 1.

Our destination is Whangarei  Hotel for one night                                                                                        There is a pool so please bring your togs if you wish.


Friday 18th February  -  The next day we travel to Bay of Islands  - 3 nights - We will take the road least traveled via Tutukaka and up the coast.  On our way we will visit Ruapekapeka which was the site of the last battle between the British and Ngapuhi led by Hone Heke and Te Ruki Kawiti. We are also booked to visit Kawiti Glow Worm Caves.  After our cave tour we head to the Bay of Islands stopping at Kawakawa on the way.

We are booked at the Dolphin for 3 nights. There is kitchen facilities so we can go to the local super market for supplies.

Saturday 19th February - Exploring the Bay of Islands - today we will be doing a cruise which will include island hopping, beach walks & snorkeling. We will need to take our lunch so I'll buy items for this so we can enjoy our lunch on one of the beautiful beaches. We are required to be down at the wharf by 10am which is just at the end of the street.

Sunday 20th February - today we will be exploring Russell by taking the car ferry over so we don't miss any of the iconic sights around Russell.  We will head back via the ferry to visit the sights of Kerikeri.  There is a lovely walk on our return journey from Kerikeri so we will see how we go for time.

 Monday 20th  - Today we will travel to the bottom of the ninety mile beach to Ahipara Bay Motel - 2 nights Along the way we will enjoy the sea views as we travel farther north to Kaitaia.  We are booked to visit Austen's Exotic Garden which is just out of Kaitaia. Once we arrive at our accommodation you are very welcome to go to the beach for a walk.  Evening meals can be enjoyed at their Restaurant which is on site. There's kitchen facilities at the Motel.


Tuesday 21st -  A day trip to Cape Reinga - 8.30am to 5pm  a full day and I've taken the option of using a local tour company for this trip. Lunch is provided. They will be picking us up from our accommodation. You do need to let me know if you have any dietary requirements so I can let them know in advance. Good walking shoes for this activity.

Wednesday 22nd -  Today we have an interesting drive before we get to Sunset View Lodge at Baylys Beach out from Dargaville.  We will travel via Rawene car ferry to Opononi, then on to the Kauri Forest and then Kai Iwi Lakes before we arrive at the Lodge for one night.  There is a restaurant that I'll book called Sharkys for dinner together for our last night.  There is a swimming pool at the Lodge but it isn't heated.

Thursday 23rd - Today we travel home but we will be stopping at the Kauri Museum at Matakohe (we have time to enjoy a few hours at the museum) before we head to Cambridge.

Investment : $1,650.00 twin share. All your accommodation, transport including days exploring Russell & Kerikeri, admission to the Kawiti Glow worm caves, Day cruise around the Bay of Islands plus lunch,  Austen's Exotic Garden, sand safaris tour to cape Reinga lunch included, and kauri museum is all included on the tour. Other meals NOT included

East Cape Tour

About: I will be picking you all up from home and leaving Cambridge at 9am then heading to Te Kaha with stops along the way. Stopping at McLaren falls etc

Tuesday 8th February : Staying 1 night Te Kaha Beach Hotel – walk on the beach and enjoy the sea.

Wednesday 9th February : Staying 1 night – Between Cape Runaway and Hicks Bay at Lottin Point Motel which does have a fully licensed bar and evening meals.

Thursday 10th February : Staying 1 night at Rangimarie House, Anaura Bay with breakfast.

Friday & Saturday: Staying 2 nights – White Heron Lodge Gisborne – Titirangi which is a historic hill with panoramic city views, Eastwoodhill National Arboretum, Rere Rockslide, Tairawhiti Museum or Gisborne City Vintage Railway which is open for excursions on Thursday and Saturday. On our way to Waikaremoana we will visit Mahia Peninsular.

Sunday & Monday : Staying 2 nights Vista Motor Lodge -Monday 14th February we will travel to Waikaremoana to enjoy some lovely walks in this area. There was no accommodation available so we will just make it a day trip.

Return trip will be via Napier & Taupo

Investment for a twin share: The cost per person will be $1,300.00 for accommodation, transport, Museum along with sightseeing which is free to visit. Train or Boat trips, Meals etc are extra. About: Going to Kawerau via the top of Lake Rotorua to Tarawera Falls. Bring your lunch so you can enjoy it while sitting beside these picturesque Falls. There is a 20-minute walk once we get to the car park to the Falls so please wear suitable walking shoes. Our homeward trip will be via Tauranga.

3 Days Exploring Coromandel & Whitianga Two Nights Tour

When: Monday 14th March 2022 to Wednesday 16th March 2022

About: Departing Cambridge 9 am. I will pick you all up at your home before we head towards the Coromandel Peninsula for - 2 Nights - on a private tour of the Coromandel area.

Monday 14th March: We will go straight to Whitianga as the high tide is perfect for our boat cruise at 1-30pm.  We will enjoy lunch on our arrive before we meet Brian at the wharf. We can explore inside a couple of caves which normally you wouldn't be able to at low tide. After our boat ride we will head to our accommodation at Parkland Place which offers a very private situation for us to relax.  There are free kayaks to enjoy a paddle along the estuary which is at the back door.  There is a variety of places to choose from for our evening meal. 

 

Tuesday 15th March: In the morning after your breakfast you can enjoy the drive to the Coromandel Township.  You will have the option or not to enjoy a  mountain train ride through native forest with stunning views over the Coromandel town and beyond with Driving Creek Railway or do the zipline.  Both of these are optional

 From there we will head to Mahamudra Centre (Tibetan Buddhist place of retreat) for a cup of tea and a stroll through the  gardens which I'm sure will be stunning.

After our visit we will head back to Whitiangi to enjoy our accommodation for another night.

Wednesday 16th March: Today we will pack for our journey home. In Thames are first stop will be  a unique Goldmine Experience.  A hands-on way to discover a whole lot of mining history, chemistry, minerology, power generation that went on in this area. several stops along the way.


Investment: $600 - Two nights shared accommodation, 2 breakfasts , Admission to Goldmine Experience, Admission to Mahamudra Centre, Boat Cruise and transport including driver for the three days. The cycle way from Hamilton to Cambridge should be open for you to enjoy a leisurely bike home. I'll transport you to Hamilton Gardens where you will start your ride. Please register your interest. If I get more than I can transport in one run I'm happy to do two trips.

About: I will pick you up from your location and transport you to Te Aroha. This trip is going to start from Te Aroha Cycle trail and head to Matamata so please register your interest. It is the E section in green that we are doing but as you can see there are A,B,C & D so if you wish to extend your cycling day I can always drop you in Paeroa. I'm happy to discuss this option several days before hand. If you feel that section E may be too much for you I will be there as a support vehicle if needed.

About: We will be heading over to Rotorua for the day. This is a perfect day to relax and enjoy being pampered. A great pick me up from our time in lock down. Let's break out and rejuvenate our bodies.

This is for a limited number of ladies only  6 : there's a selection of treatments available and you can choose on the day from a mud wrap, massage, pedicure, manicure or facial. There's a spa and sauna for you to relax in while you enjoy over 4 hours at the spa.

You will also enjoy a Antipasto platter served with juice or bubbles.

When you think it doesn't get any better I've got a most unique place to stop at before we head home.

About: I will leave my place at 35 Norfolk Drive, Cambridge at 2pm and will start picking you all up from your home. We will be staying at the Ibis at Auckland Airport on Monday 18th April 2022 the night before we fly to Great Barrier.

Tuesday 19th April 2022 - fly to Great Barrier Island

A trip of a lifetime. Enjoy the beaches, bush and sea all in a few days.

I will be hiring a van on our arrival so we will have transport the whole time we are on the island. We then will travel to our accommodation (Glenfern - Fitzroy House) for the next three nights. It is self-catering so please bring your own breakfast and lunch. There is a grocery store on the island so we can stop to purchase any items that you will require. Evening meals will be at the boat club which is nearby.

Activities: A bush walk through the windy canyon and to Kaitoke Hot springs Coastal Cruise with on-board lunch - Departs 10 am from Whangaparapara Wharf Dark Sky tour - enjoy the sky by night

Cromwell - Catlins - Stewart Island

When: Saturday 30th April 2022 – Friday 13th May - Flying to Queenstown - staying in Cromwell for 7 nights with many options and activities in this region. We will be doing some of the cycle trails eg Dunstan, Roxburgh and some parts of the Otago rail trail. Bikes will be hired from Shebikeshebikes - either electric or standard bikes

About: From Cromwell we will head to the Catlins for 2 nights, before we head to Invercargill for 1 night so we can take the morning ferry  to Stewart Island for 3 nights.  Friday 13th May we will head back to Queenstown for our flight to Hamilton

This is a beautiful part of the country.  I have limited availability for the 1 week in Cromwell but spaces available for the Catlins, Invercargill and Stewart Island.

Kawhia Harbour

When: Wednesday 27th April 2022 – Departing 9am from the Cambridge I-Site or pick up from a pre-arranged location before 9am.

About: Heading to the West Coast and out to Kawhia. Depending on the tide as it does need to be low tide to enjoy the hot pools. . From there we will start our journey exploring this area. There’s a huge amount of history in this area and some very interesting places along the way.

This is a beautiful part of the country from the coast to some of our untouched bush.

Please bring your lunch.

Mystery Day Out on the Back Roads

Rotorua - Whakarewarewa Mountain Bike Park

When: Friday 20th May

About: I will transport yourself and your bike to Whakarewarewa Mountain Bike Park where there's several loop tracks you can enjoy. The loop is a Grade 2 to 3 track designed to be accessible for people of almost all ages, abilities and fitness levels. You don’t need to be a professional downhiller; as long as you’re a confident rider, you’ll find the variety of uphill, downhill and flat sections interesting, fun and fairly easy to navigate. To finish our day we will call in to the secert spot to enjoy a drink and soak our feet.

Kaiaua - Miranda to Thames

When: Friday 27th May

About: I will transport yourself and your bike to the starting point in Kaiaua and then will support you along the trail to Thames. This trail is 52km and does have some areas I can't get to put I will do my best. There is the possiblity of being dropped at Miranda and then biking through to Paeroa.
