Thursday 12th March

Today we will pack and travel to Port Fitzroy which is towards the top of the island to Glenfern Sanctuary which will be our home for the next two nights. We will be staying in Fitzroy House  (Homestead) and the cottage which was built in 1901 and is one of the oldest homesteads remaining on Great Barrier Island.  There are many walks from the homestead to enjoy. One of them will take you down to a bay for a swim or kayak. We will be off the grid so enjoy the birds and bush that surrounds you. We are fully self-contained so we will be taking food with us.  You will need to bring your own breakfast & lunch requirements.

Please note: There is only a general store with fresh fruit, veges, milk, bread and wine, beers, and spirits etc. Remember we are 90 kms out to sea...so expect to pay a little more for fuel, food and drinks.
