Historic Village Tauranga / Katikati township/ Waihi township

We will travel to the Historic Village in Tauranga, where you can experience an amazing collection of original and replica buildings from early Tauranga, nestled amongst gorgeous gardens and natural bush. You can buy art, get a haircut, and enjoy the boutique shops at one of Tauranga’s best-kept secrets.

We will then travel towards Katikati township but on the way we will divert off the beaten track to Omokoroa Beach, enjoying lunch along the way.

Our last stop will be a visit to Waihi township. Here you can wander through the township from the top to the bottom, enjoying a variety of interesting stores.

Travel to Rotorua for dinner at Eat Street – one of Rotorua’s coolest hot spots in the city. At the lake end of Tutanekai Street, you will enjoy quality restaurants, cafés and bars as well as the famous Lady Jane’s Ice Cream Parlour. Waiuku Day Trip

Karioitahi Beach

When: Mon 21st September

Time: Departing 8.30 am from the corner of Dick & Queen St or by pre-arranged pick-up.

About: 

Heading to the west coast and out to Karioitahi Beach from Waiuku.  From there we will start our journey down the west coast towards home, while we do this we will take a break to explore some of the interesting places along the way.

This is a beautiful part of the country from the coast to some of our untouched bush.

Taupo Day Trip

When: Tues 29th September

On arrival to Taupo we can visit either Aratiatia Rapids or Huka Falls both are very popular natural attractions in the North Island.

This day trip is going to be open to explore some of the many attractions that Taupo offers so sit back and just enjoy the day.  We may even finish the day with a relaxing soak at the Wairakei Thermal Pools so do bring your togs.  Options are many.

Tarawera Falls Day Trip

When: Fri 2nd October

Going to Kawerau via the top of lake Rotorua to Tarawera Falls. Bring your lunch so you can enjoy it while sitting beside the Tarawera Falls. There is a 20 minute walk once we get to the car park to the falls so please wear suitable walking shoes.

Matakana Day Trip

When: Tues 6th October

Time: Departing at 9.00 am returning at 4 pm.  Departing from the Cambridge iSite or by pre-arranged pick-up.

About: 

We are going to head to the base of the Mount and at 11am we will board the Kewpie Cruises to take us to the wharf on Matakana island. Bring your lunch to enjoy a picnic on the beach. After lunch take a swim or enjoy a walk before 1.20pm when we board the boat to take us back to the Mount.

Matakana Island  – is located in the western Bay of Plenty. It’s long, flat and 20 Kms in length but not more than 2 kms in width. The island has been continuously populated and today we will get the privilege of being dropped off on the island to enjoy your lunch and explore this area by foot.

Hauraki Rail Trail – Cycle trip – Waihi to Paeroa

Time: Departing at 9am from the Cambridge iSite or by pre-arranged pick-up.

About: 

This day trip is going to start in Waihi on the cycle trail and head towards Paeroa.
I will transport yourself and your bike to the starting point in Waihi and then will pick you up either in Paeroa or Te Aroha. It is your choice when you would like to finish.

You will follow the Ohinemuri River and through the Karangahake Gorge with many highlights along the way. If you wish to stop in Paeroa that is your choice. We will head through to Te Aroha.

Hauraki Rail Trail is mostly flat and winds through rural farmland towards Te Aroha Station.

Open-air painting or just enjoy the garden

This is a beautiful garden that Barry has sold but we are very fortunate and extremely lucky that the new owners are going to maintain tours along with other events. The new owners would love to see people come to paint so if you would like to bring your painting equipment along, please do so.

Take the opportunity to stroll through the gardens. The Tree Church alone is a fine masterpiece and Barry has been very hands-on with the garden and loves sharing his knowledge on how he achieved this transformation of his garden which we see today.

There is a beautiful area to have your lunch so please bring your picnic lunch.

Waiheke Day Trip

Waiheke day Trip from Cambridge

When:

Wed 28th October

Time: Departing at 6.30am from the Cambridge iSite or by pre-arranged pick-up. returning 6pm.

About: 

We will set sail from Half Moon Bay with Sealink at 9am to Kennedy Point (Waiheke Island).  This trip will take 1 hour so you can enjoy the crossing and we may even see dolphins.

Once we are on the island we will head to one of the many beaches as will as taking some time out to explore Oneroa Village and the Community Art Gallery. We will enjoy the surrounding that the island offers and if one of the vineyards are operating on the island we will visit them too.

After a full day sit back and relax while we get set to take the 3pm ferry back to Half Moon Bay then home ward bound.

Paeroa Maritime Park River Cruise

Paeroa Maritime Park River Cruise

When: Wed19th November

Time: 9.00 am

About: 

Historical Paeroa Maritime Park and a river paddleboat cruise on the Ohinemuri and Waihou rivers, aboard the Tamati.

Trips are tide dependent and depart at a different time each day. The tides will be perfect for a lunch time cruise, so bring your lunch or snacks along and enjoy the history of the area. This is a little gem, home to a very important collection of maritime history relating to the late 19th century when the goldfields of Waihi and Karangahake were being developed and mined.

Afterwards view maritime history and displays of the region including Captain Cook, Northern Steam Ship Company and naval displays at the Historical Maritime Park and Museum, or stroll through the beautiful town of Paeroa.

They have new wharf’s being built, so fingers crossed they are all completed by the 18th November.

Cycle Trip – Ngaruawahia to Hamilton Gardens

Time: Departing at 10 am from Cambridge iSite or by pre-arranged pick-up.

About: 

I will transport yourself and your bike to the starting point and then pick you up at the Hamilton Gardens. This is the newest section of Te Awa starting at Ngaruawahia Domain.

This Grade One section features the popular and iconic Perry Bridge, one of the longest walk/cycle bridges in New Zealand!

The section follows the river almost entirely, with some great spots to stop for a picnic. You can take a short detour to test your skills at the Perry Bike Skills Park in Horotiu.  If you’re lucky, you may see some horse’s training at the Waikato Equestrian Centre on your way past – but failing all of that, you’re spoilt for choice coming into Hamilton with bucketloads of café options available in the city, just a stone’s throw from the river.

Paeroa Maritime Museum Christmas Lights 

When: Tues 15th December

Time: Departing at 5 pm from Cambridge iSite or by pre-arranged pick-up.

A magical evening and one not to be missed. Get into the festive season and come and join us for a special evening.

We will go direct to Paeroa where we will enjoy an evening meal in the township. Your choice of location.

At 8.15 pm we will arrive on-site at the Museum to enjoy their opening night.

The evening will finish when everyone is ready to go home.
